FanDuel strengthens at C-level with strategic new appointment

In a bid to make sure that it can retain its place as the number one iGaming operator in the US, Flutter Entertainment-owned brand, FanDuel has made a key hire - one that it is believed can help the company to keep going in a positive direction.
As a result, it has appointed Andrew Sheh as its Chief Technology Officer (CTO) in what is understood to be a major role in addition to an important hire.
It means that Sheh will be responsible for the group’s engineering and infrastructure teams as it looks to further build on the success that it has enjoyed over the last couple of years.
Progress key for FanDuel in a huge market
Over the last two years, the US market has witnessed a surge in popularity after a number of states passed legislation to offer either online casino, online sports betting or both - a move that has been extremely beneficial for a number of states from an income perspective.
FanDuel was right at the forefront of these legislative changes in these states, being quick to secure the relevant licenses and then make a splash. A combination of astute operations, strong organisation and clever marketing, has helped to position the brand in the number one spot in the US, despite fierce competition.
However, this appointment will help to take the operator to the next level, with technology viewed as a major component in ensuring that the industry continues to move forward. For FanDuel this will be a big priority, as it continues to differentiate and improve the products that it makes available to customers.
Two decades of technology experience for Sheh
While he does not perhaps have a lot of online gambling experience, his resume cannot be argued with, having led technology operations most recently for real estate brokerage firm Compass, where he was in charge of over 500 engineers across a range of disciplines including search, data, AI/ML, digital advertising, marketing technology and payments.
Such pedigree alone highlights the versatility of his experience and how this can carry across the online gambling scene in the US. In addition, Sheh can count four other big companies where he has held senior roles in his past, from a range of industries.
This certainly bodes well for FanDuel, who will be looking to make sure that they can continue to be competitive in the US market, with rivals such as DraftKings and BetMGM likely to make moves of their own over the next few months.
